2026 Municipal By-Election
The nomination period for the 2026 Municipal By-Election is officially open! If you’re passionate about Smoky Lake and want to shape its future, now is the time to run for Council.
Nominations for One Councillor will be accepted by the Returning Officer from Wednesday, June 24, 2026, until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026. All candidates are encouraged to make an appointment with the Returning Officer to file their nomination papers. Appointments are available during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
Before accepting campaign contributions or incurring expenses, candidates must file their intent to run as per the Local Authorities Election Act.
