When do I need a Development Permit?

The following are some examples of when a development permit is required: 

  • New construction 
  • Renovations - depending on the scope of work 
  • Accessory Building - shed and detached garage
  • Accessory Dwelling Unit - secondary suite, garage suite, in-law suite 
  • Home Occupation
  • Change of Use for Commercial business
  • Signs 
  • Sea Can (excluding Residential zoned property)
  • In-ground swimming pools 
  • Fences
