Some common examples of types of developments that require a development permit are fences, decks, in-ground swimming pools, additional dwelling units, etc.
The applicant must complete the development permit application, accompanied by the associated fee. Afterwards, the application is processed by the Development officer. Depending on the scope of the project, the Development permit can be issued within one to three business days. This can be longer if a variance or discretionary use approval is required.
What if my Development Permit gets denied?
Applicants have the option to appeal the decision through the Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board. However, it's important to note that the decision rendered by the Intermunicipal Subdivision and Development Appeal Board is final and cannot be further appealed.
What is the fee of the Development Permit?
This fee of the development permit is set by the Master Rates Bylaw. Find the up-to-date fees here.
