Step Back in Time at the CN Station
As you stand on the wooden platform of the historic CN Station, imagine the year is 1919. The station is brand new, the town is alive with excitement, and you can almost hear the distant whistle of that first arriving train.
Enter through the original wooden front door and you’re welcomed by the warmth of a pot-bellied stove — once a comfort to passengers on chilly winter days. To your left stands the Ticketmaster’s wicket, where, years ago, a return ticket to Edmonton cost just $1.95.
Explore further and you’ll find a telegraph machine, vintage log books, and the baggage room — complete with a trolley piled high, ready for loading by the baggage handler. Be sure to view the partial historical Gavinchuk photo collection on display here, offering a unique window into the past.
Today, the CN Station also houses Smoky Lake’s Tourist Booth — the perfect starting point to gather brochures and discover everything this charming town and its surroundings have to offer.
