Public Hearings & Bylaw Consultation

Public Hearings are a way for the public to speak to Council directly on specific matters. Some bylaws require a Public Hearing to be held, such as re-zoning bylaws (land use re-designations) and area structure plans. Bylaws subject to the Public Hearing process are posted on the Town's website and heard at the Public Hearing.

Public Hearings are scheduled on the same day as Regular Council Meetings. Public Hearings are advertised in the paper and on this webpage. All area residents directly affected by the proposed bylaw(s) are also notified.

Any person or group of persons affected by the proposed bylaw(s) and wishing to provide a written submission prior to the Public Hearing must do so before noon on the Wednesday preceding the Public Hearing in order to be included in the Council agenda package. Written submissions received after the Wednesday noon deadline and up until noon the day of the Public Hearing will be noted during the Hearing, provided to Council in full and published on the Town's website in an amended agenda following the Public Hearing.
