Councillor Melody Morton

Melody Morton grew up in New Brunswick, where her mother and most of her family still currently live. One of her brothers lives in Alberta, while the other lives in Halifax as a member of the Canadian Navy. After living in a few different parts of Alberta, Melody settled in Smoky Lake in 2003. She has made Smoky Lake her home with her common-law partner Lorne Fedirchuk and her stepdaughter Jade Fedirchuk. Some of her hobbies include snowmobiling, quadding, and spending time at the lake. She loves anything outdoors. Aside from being a councillor, she works at Dr. Chomay’s dental clinic and has been working there for the past 15 years. She wanted to run for council to be involved and have a voice in the town, that she calls her home. She is passionate about her community and volunteering.
